Title: Matthew Reilly's Ice Station Live

Written by: Matthew Reilly (novel), Benjamin Maio Mackay (adapted for audio drama)

Directed by: Benjamin Maio Mackay

Synopsis: Ice Station tells the story of a team of US divers, who vanish while exploring three thousand feet beneath the ice shelf. After sending out an SOS, the Wilkes Ice Station draws a rapid deployment team of Marines…and someone else! A horrific firefight, a plunge into a killer whale infested pool and a battle for survival is what makes Ice Station riveting.

Ice Station has been adapted into an audio drama and in the Adelaide Fringe Festival next year the project will be piloted with a live reading of the first 3 parts. The format of the show, a reading, means actors will not have to learn lines - though they will have to be familiar with them. All those auditioning must be over 18 years of age.

The ages specified next to the characters are an indication for how old your voice should sound, not your actual age.

Roles Available:

Lead Roles:

Scarecrow – Male, between 30-50 years of age. Scarecrow is a United States Marine and the leader of his team. This role requires an American accent.

Sarah Hensleigh – Female, between 30 and 40 years of age. Sarah is a paleontologist and leader of the research team on the Ice Station. This role requires an American accent.

Supporting Roles:
Due to the amount of characters with limited lines many supporting actors will be playing 2 or more roles. Depending on the roles you may only have to read one audition scene.

Mother – Female, between 40 and 50 years of age. Mother is a United States Marine, who is a close friend of Scarecrow. This role requires an American accent and this actress will also play the smaller role of researcher Abby.

Luc Champion – Male, between 30 and 60 years of age. Luc is a French scientist on the Ice Station, who helps a French attack unit invade the station. This role requires a French accent and this actor will also play the smaller roles of Jacques Latissier and Warren Conlon.

Rebound – Male, between 20 and 35 years of age. Rebound is one of Scarecrow’s team of Marines. This role requires an American accent and the actor playing this role will also play Benjamin Austin.

Montana – Male between 20 and 35 years of age. Montana is one of Scarecrow’s Marines, who is at first distrusting of his boss. This role requires an American accent.

Snake – Male, between 25 and 40 years of age. Snake is one of Scarecrow’s Marines. This actor will also play the role of Jean Petard, one of the French antagonists. This role requires both a French and American accent.

The final two actors will play 5 characters each, as their characters often only appear in one scene.

Hollywood – Male, between 30 and 40 years of age. Hollywood is one of Scarecrow’s Marines. Other smaller roles this actor will play are: Diver 1, Diver, Phil and a French Soldier. This role requires both a French and American accent.

Santa Cruz – Male, between 20 and 40 years of age. Santa Cruz is one of Scarecrow’s Marines. Other smaller roles this actor will play are: Diver 2, Diver, George, Jean Pierre Cuvier. This role requires both a French and American accent.
