Profit-share Inside the Island

9 Male actors and 3 Female actors of varying ages required for a production of Louis Nowra’s play Inside the Island.

Louis Nowra’s Inside the Island is a period drama set on a wheat mill in New South Wales in 1912. Often comedic and confronting, the play was Nowra’s first to be set in Australia and vividly and dramatically explores the challenges facing Australia’s cultural past, present and future.

Audition slots are 15 minutes during which actors are asked to present a contemporary Australian monologue of around two minutes. A small amount of singing, unaccompanied, may be required (Happy Birthday will do).

Auditions will take place on Wednesday January 14 in the evening; Thursday January 15 in the evening; Saturday January 17 all day; Sunday January 18 all day.

The play will rehearse part time during February and March and perform April 9 to 26 at Theatreworks. Rehearsals will take place in the evening during the week and in the day time on Sundays. An intensive week of rehearsal in the theatre space will run the week of March 30th during day time (negotiable) and in the evenings.

doorslam is committed to presenting works from "off the mainstream". In 2008 doorslam presented the new Australian work The Underwood, written and directed by Vanessa Cole and Marlowe's forgotten classic The Massacre at Paris, directed by Mark Wilson and Jenny Lovell
