Season 3 – General Information
1984 Up Late will be staged as part of a rep. Season in conjunction with the Macbeth (note performers will not be performing in both shows). Both shows will be touring to schools, followed by an in-theatre season at Studio 1, Northcote Town Hall

School Tours: Monday 27th July – Friday 7th Aug (Day times)
In-theatre season: Tuesday 11th Aug – Saturday 22nd Aug (Matinees and Evening Shows)

Rehearsals will begin on the 31st of May and will span over an 8 week period, Mondays and Wednesday 6:30 – 10:30 and Sundays 11am – 6pm.

About the show
1984 Up Late – Adapted for stage and directed by James Adler
The communist era is a thing of the past, but aspects of the Orwellian paradigm subtly pervade our times. Corporations, advertising, political spin-doctoring, and dreams of fame, control our actions. This multidisciplinary production uses an original music score, physical theatre and film to merge the story of 1984 into the game-show world of Big Brother Up Late. The question it asks is: have we become our own Big Brothers?

Auditions
The Ensemble will play a major role in this production devising group performance work consisting of physical theatre, sung and spoken text, as well as a series of minor cameo roles.
Auditionees should either have physical theatre skills, musical skills or experience and interest in devised or ensemble theatre.
The Audition will be a group audition lasting 2 hours and will explore all of the skills listed above.
Auditions will take place at THE NEST – 24 Hardy St Brunswick

We will be accepting applications until the last week in April. When you submit your application you will receive an email to confirm that it has been received but Audition times will not be allocated until the last week in April. In our last round of auditions Eagle’s Nest received over 150 auditionees – so when we allocate you an audition time please do not request to change it unless absolutely necessary as we may not be able to offer an alternative time
