THRILL ME - The Leopold and Loeb Story
at Squabbalogic - Sydney
THRILL ME: THE LEOPOLD AND LOEB STORY
Book, music and lyrics by Stephen Dolginoff
Produced in association with The Seymour Centre & New Mardi Gras 2010
CASTING FOR THE ROLE OF NATHAN LEOPOLD
Intelligent, good-looking, passionate.
Playing age 19, with occasional scenes set at aged 53. We need a young actor who can manipulate their physicality and voice without aid of makeup or costume to shift between the two ages.
Nathan recounts the story of the crime from his parole hearing in 1957, aged 53. In his personal experience of the events of 1924 (aged 19), he is nervous and submissive – captivated by Richard and propelled by an unquenchable desire for him into assisting in the perfect murder of a 12-year-old boy. However, under the surface Nathan can be just as calculating and is no less clever than his charming offsider.
Our ideal Nathan is youthful and delicate, slim and attractive with a classic/music theatre tenor voice.
Blake Erickson will portray Richard Loeb.
ABOUT THE SHOW:
Relationships can be murder. Thrill Me is the award-winning Off-Broadway musical that recounts the chilling true story of the legendary duo Leopold and Loeb, who committed one of the most infamous crimes of the 20th century. It’s 1924, and two wealthy University of Chicago students believe themselves to be the Nietzschean ‘supermen’, superior to the rest of society. But when they forge their dark plans to commit the ‘perfect crime,’ things don’t unfold exactly as they’d planned.
