Volunteer Volunteer for 'GHETTO SHAKESPEARE' FILM AND DRAMA WORKSHOP

at Shakespeare in Community - Melbourne

Shakespeare in Community (affectionately known as 'Ghetto Shakespeare') is a 5-day workshop on 12-16 January that aims to empower youth through the dramatisation and filming of modernised Shakespearean works.

The workshop will teach youth 13 years and up drama and film-making skills, enable them to gain a more in-depth understanding of Shakespeare to aid in their "street" reenactment of key scenes and give them a taste of the scriptwriting and film-editing process.

As you can see, it adopts a holistic approach to enable participants to really engage in all aspects of filming, drama and Shakespeare. Our underlying goal is to build connections between the University of Melbourne and the surrounding community and enable children of first and second-generation immigrant families to assimilate into the Western-based education system without compromising their personal and cultural identity.

This is a great opportunity, not only for participants but for those interested in sharing their skills. Already, we have some extremely skilled and talented volunteers on board and you will get a chance to make connections with people of similar interests and passions.

If you are available on 12-16 January from 10am - 4pm each day (lunch and snacks will be provided) and have the following skills:
-SHAKESPEAREAN LITERATURE (qualified students, teachers or lecturers)
-SCRIPT-WRITERS
-DRAMA
-FILM-MAKING including FILM-EDITING
-PHOTOGRAPHY
