Opportunity Seeking Producer / Production Manager for May season of Cosi in Melbourne

at Eagles Nest Theatre - Melbourne

Position Description
In May 2010 Eagles Nest Theatre will be presenting its first main season for 2010. The main production in the season will be Cosi by Louis Nowra, however we will also be offering space to other companies to do short runs of other works.

Currently we have an interim Production Manager in place, and are trying to find someone to take over this role as soon as possible. To begin with, the Production Managers main duty will be to staff the various projects with Directors, Front of House Managers, Publicists, Stage Managers as well as also sourcing external works for the season.

With the support of the Company and reporting directly to the Company Manager, the Production Manager will be responsible for the programming of the season and overseeing all areas. It is very important that the Production manager can pick up the slack in any / all departments to associated with the season.

Payment details
Payment for this position is on a profit share basis. We already have a number of school bookings confirmed, which means that this part of the season will go into the General Public season having covered its outgoings. We anticipate that Cosi will have a broad appeal and sell well and that the import works will bring a substantial audience with them. What this means is that if all goes according to plan there should be at least a small amount of money involved.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
The Production Manager will be responsible for:

  • Staffing and directly supervising the season’s publicist & front of house manager, as well as the director and stage manager of Cosi.
  • Sourcing and managing of external works
  • Offering support and assistance to all aspects of the season where needed
  • Arranging bump in
  • Ensuring that all staff are on track to deliver the shows within the required time line.
  • General book keeping duties

*Experience/Skills *
The key things we will be looking for are strong organisational and problem solving skills, the ability to work well and communicate with other people, and very importantly the ability to be able to prioritise.
Previous experience in theatre, project managing or public / media relations would be a bonus.
