Producer / Production Company
at Matt & Hannah - Sydney
An exciting opportunity for an emerging producer / production company to co-produce 'Alaska' by D C Moore for a new independent season in Sydney.
'Alaska' is about a group of young people working in a cinemaplex and coming to terms with race, sexuality and finding their direction in life. It received rave reviews after its debut in London in 2007. As the 'Independent' reviewed:
"D C Moore's debut is a searing and uncomfortable probing of prejudice in all its forms, from the offensive jokes and lazy stereotyping which pepper idle conversation to the out and out racist rants of the play\'s anti-hero. This bigot is Frank, a university drop-out who now works at the local multiplex where he spends his breaks smoking and playing Dictators Top Trumps. It's only when Mamta, an "Asian Babe" arrives and becomes his boss that he gives full vent to his white supremacist beliefs. And he makes a nasty habit of forcing his views on anyone who will listen, much as he forces unwanted cigarettes, booze and, occasionally, sex on them too."
This powerful and urgent co-op production will provide an amazing and rewarding opportunity for all involved as well as potentially being part of a new and exciting independent season at a great Sydney venue.
Interested parties should make contact in the first instance along with their contact details and a copy of the script can be forwarded for your persual.
We want to from hard working, dedicated professionals or new and emerging voices who most importantly have a passion for creating great theatre. If this sounds like you we look forward to hearing from you.
