Seeking Production Manager - Min fee of $500 guarenteed
at Eagle's Nest Theatre Victoria
Position Description
Eagle’s Nest is seeking a production manager to run its second main season for August 2010. The main show in the season will be “Outlaw” by Michael Healy. We will also be hosting 4 shows of a production of Macbeth and a few shows from a 3rd company.
The Production Managers role will begin almost immediately. Working closely with Eagle’s Nest Company Manager, James Adler, they will source staff a publicist for the season, a stage manager for “Outlaw” and source the external work/s for the season.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Reporting directly to the company manager, the production manager will be responsible for the programming of the season and overseeing all areas (to ensure the smooth running of each of the productions for the season). The Production manager must be able to pick up the slack in any / all departments.
Liaising with and reporting directly to the company manager, the production manager will be responsible for the smooth running overall project.
• Staffing of publicist and stage manager of Outlaw.
• The programming of the season
• Sourcing of actors for “Outlaw”
• Coordinating the auditions
• Sourcing and managing of external works to include in the season
• Managing all contracts, timelines and documentation
• Managing all technical and performance space issues between the shows ie. lighting, rehearsal space, bump in, tech and bump out, opening nights, cast party
• Organising fundraising activities
• Coordinating program information
• Supervising and supporting the Publicist.
• Ensuring progress of creative team
• Managing and maintain accurate records of production budget
Experience/Skills
The key skills needed are strong organisational and problem-solving skills, the ability to work well and communicate with other people, and, very importantly, the ability to prioritise. Previous experience in theatre, project managing or public/media relations would be a bonus.
Payment details
The project is basically being run on a cut-of-the-door model however, as the production costs on this project have been funded, the actors performing in Outlaw and the production manager are guaranteed a minimum fee of $500.
