Volunteer PRODUCTION COORDINATOR/STAGE MANAGER REQUIRED

at The Colour Blind Project - Sydney

A PRODUCTION COORDINATOR and/or STAGE MANAGER is required to become a part of the new theatre festival, The Colour Blind Project. The festival is a 2 week season of new Australian works, being performed by an integrated ensemble of talented actors at The Tap
Gallery Theatre, Darlinghurst.

The Colour Blind Project is a festival celebrating independent, innovative performance for theatre in order to showcase the diverse pool of multicultural talent in Australia. It aims to change who and what we see on the Australian stage and reflect truthfully our contemporary Australian society.

The successful candidate will need to have regular email and Internet access and be available leading up to the festival approximately once a week, and then during the entire 2 weeks of the festival from 27th June – 10th July, 2010.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
Reporting directly to the Festival Directors, the Production Manager will be responsible to coordinate all technical and production elements of the festival. With the ongoing support and assistance of the festival directors, the Production Coordinator will also be responsible
for:

- Coordination all production elements of the festival, including liasing with technical crew and designers

- Organising the staffing for the festival, including box office, stage managers, operators etc.

- Coordinating contracts

- Booking and allocating rehearsal spaces

- Maintaining the production schedule

- Maintaining the production budget

- Managing and coordinating all technical and performance space issues between the shows ie. lighting, rehearsal space, bump in, tech and bump out, opening nights, cast party

- Coordinating program information

- Assistance in publicity and marketing

Experience/Skills
The key skills needed are strong organisational and problem-solving skills, the ability to work well and communicate with other people, and, very importantly, the ability to prioritise.

Previous experience in theatre and/or project managing is preferred. Preference will also be given to those who will be able to Stage Manage during the 2 weeks of the festival.
