AUDITION NOTICE
Eagles Nest Theatre – Season 2 – August 19st to Sept 3 2010
General Information
We are seeking actors for our forthcoming production of Outlaw by Michael Healy.
Directed by James Adler, Outlaw (the second piece in the Greenwolf Trilogy) by Michael Healy is to be staged as part of a 2-week public season at Northcote Town Hall for 9 performances from August 19th to September 3rd.
ABOUT THE PLAY
It isn’t easy being Green on a shoe-string budget – It isn’t easy being the voice of reason for the world around you and it isn’t easy playing the media game.
One night in downtown Berlin hundreds of car tyres are slashed. The friends of local Green Party leader, Tillman Hessel, think he might have snapped.
When it starts happening all over Germany suspicion of guerrilla left politics are in the air. Hysteria simmers and righteous citizens turn savage in response to the attacks on their precious machines.
Roles being cast: please only apply to audition if there is a part within your playing range
TILMAN (mid 30s) – A professional greens lobbyist
DAGMAR (mid 30s) – Tilman's partner, a naturopath
ANDREAS (mid 30s) – Tilman's right hand man
ANNA (mid 30s) Dagmar's friend
LUDO (about 50) – Journalist & Tilman's long-established confidant in the media
MAGDA (early 20s ) a pretty young TV reporter
DIRECTOR’S NOTES
James Adler is the artistic director of Eagle’s Nest theatre. He has an interest in tradition text based theatre but also a real love of more abstract and physical work. He last two major project have been cross disciplinary works involved devised ensemble work, text and music. In this production he intends to combine the text with snippets of original music and physical theatre exploring the themes of every day pressures and fears, breaking point and wide spread hysteria.
Production Commitments: FIRST READ: Tuesday 22 June at 7pm. REHEARSAL TIMES: From first read through until the season the weekly rehearsal schedule will be Tuesday and Thursday nights 6.30pm – 9.30pm and Sundays 11am-4pm.
(All cast must be available for additional rehearsals and or extended rehearsal times in the week before the production commences to accommodate any rehearsal/production week changes.)
Payment: This is a profit share production with a min guaranteed fee for actors of $500. This production of Outlaw has funding to cover its outgoings, which means that all money taken on the door goes straight to profit share - and it is quite possible for the profit share to exceed the $500 fee.

Sunday 23 May at 11am / 3pm
Tuesday 25 May at 7pm

Details:
Prior to auditions actors need to read the script as well as the short directors notes at the bottom of this notice. One of the key questions at the auditions will be: Why is the play and the director’s creative approach of interest to you?
Actors should have a particular role in mind when auditioning
Auditions will be in groups of 8-12 people
Auditions will take 1.5 – 2 hours where you will be asked to:
o participate in physical and ensemble exercises
o perform a contemporary theatre monologue MAXIMUM 2 minutes
o participate in reading scenes from the play with other actors
