AUDITION CALL | One Female Actor
”The poisonous cocktail of pride, guilt and so much love - the taste of it is always in your mouth.”
With the death of brother, and son, Gregor fresh in their minds the Samsa family leave all behind to start their lives again. But not everything always goes to plan. The family unit is one held together by loyalty that runs through their blood and encompasses security, strength, and love. However, when such a strong bond is broken the effects cut far, far, deeper.
Inspired by Franz Kafka’s Metamorphosis, Greta is an original script by George Kemp and will be directed by Luke Butler.
Told by one woman, splashed with animation and shadow from experimental multiple projections, accompanied by live original music from Sydney band Portable Junk, Greta transcends the notion of a simple one woman show and will result in a strong and engaging piece of solo theatre performance.
Greta is set to really challenge our performer in areas of drama, comedy, pantomime, and physical gesture through workshop based rehearsals - all with the aim of presenting a refined example of storytelling for today’s audiences.
Greta follows Free Association’s 2009 season of Under Milk Wood; “For the duration of the play, which was of epic proportion, each and every moment was filled with engaging theatre.” (Australian Stage)
Greta will be staged as part of The Sydney Fringe in early September 2010.
