Profit-share Production Designer Wanted For 2010 La Mama - Explorations season of “UnAustralia” by Reg Cribb

at Adrian Corbett - Melbourne

Show Title – ‘UnAustralia’ by Reg Cribb
Performance Dates – November 4th, 5th and 6th @ 7.30pm
Payment – Co-op (If profit is made it will be split between the cast and crew)

We are looking for a Production Designer who can address the diverse range of settings within this piece as well as the challenge of working within a limited budget and a 3 show season at the La Mama theatre. The successful applicant will be working with the creative team to develop a lighting plan as well as a creative stage design which can encompass scenes ranging from Crulla beach to a studio audience. A willingness to operate the show for the 3 shows will be looked upon very favorably.

About the Show
I still call Australia home...? Crulla Beach is home and play ground to one and all. But when a lifesaver is beaten by a local youth of ‘middle-eastern appearance’, some start to question who really is ‘local’. And more importantly, who or what is a ‘real’ Australian?

About La Mama - Explorations Season
A Season of Explorations is La Mama’s annual mini-festival of works-in-progress, experimental off-cuts or embryonic fragments of future projects, each year it showcases new work by artists who are theatre newcomers or seasoned practitioners seeking an outlet to try something different.
Most of the shows start at 7.30pm and a ticket costs $10; "The Explorations season really epitomises what La Mama is," Jones says. "From an artist's point of view, it's access to a space and participation in a show. For audiences, we've tried to keep the ticket price down so as many people as possible can see the work that's being done. There has to be this cutting edge where people try new ideas."

We have already discussed with La Mama our aim of holding a full season of the show in 2011 either at La Mama or its sister space the Carlton Courthouse.
