Female Theatre In Education performer – 3 Nationally touring contracts 2011

Tony Bones Entertainment "Children's Theatre by Qualified Teachers" www.tonybones.com.au

Melbourne based female performer sought, 18-35 y.o, must be a strong singer & good character actor.

We are holding general auditions for a range of shows to be toured through schools nationally in 2011. Three contracts are on offer and may be filled by one or several performers.

“Tony Bones” Appleby will be performing the male role for all of these contracts and we’re looking for a female performer to join him for 1 or all 3 tours.

Pay structure will be in line with the federal award with performers being on a weekly wage when contracted. Accommodation, food & per diems are paid when the performers are required to stay away from home overnight for the shows.

The shows are transported in the company van (auto) that both performers must share driving.

The shows take approx. 45-60 minutes to bump in & bump out including loading & unloading & setting up of portable staging, sound equipment (incl. headset microphones), basic lighting, curtain, costumes & props.

Performances vary in length from 40 to 60 minutes plus Q&A.

The shows are all written, directed & choreographed by "Tony Bones" Appleby (B.Ed) & music composed by Tony in collaboration with Tim Smith Dip.Ed (Pro MD "Mamma Mia", Children's MD "Billy Elliott" & "Lion King") & Luke Hunter Dip.Ed (Pro MD "Jersey Boys" & "Rocky Horror").

The successful performer would be playing several roles in the original Australian productions for primary to lower secondary students.

They must:

- be a strong character actor & singer who has a strong grasp on comedy & can speak in various accents & different sounding voices;

- have enough physical strength to quickly load & unload / setup & pack up portable stages, sound equipment, etc;

- have the mental strength & toughness to tour shows for a long period of time and still maintain a positive attitude whilst working;

- have a driver's licence;

The touring schedule is throughout Australia (except for WA & NT) so there is some time spent away from home, including weekends. 2010 saw 15 nights away from home in Term 1, 14 nights in Term 2, 16 nights in Term 3 & 15 nights in Term 4. 2011 will see much less interstate touring in Term 1 & 4 so they will be less but we’d expect the rest to be about the same.

Term 1 - "Bully Bull Ring" anti-bullying musical (10 songs, full musical, all singing & dancing, lots of costume changes),

Contract 2 – Term 3 – 2 shows in total.

One is a 4 song 40 minute stage adaption of one of the 6 short listed “Picture Book of the Year” books with lots of different elements (song, dance, puppetry, sets, props, costume changes), one a 2 song more theatre based adaption of the “Younger Reader’s Book of the Year”.
