Underground Productions Present - an Australian Double Bill

Auditions for Underground's second show of the year are finally here! This year for our second show we are putting on a double bill of "Bed" by Brendan Cowell and "Bang on the Nerve" by Van Badham.

Bed - By Brendan Cowell
'Bed' follows an acerbic character, Phil, through the five most significant sexual relationships of his life. His lovers include schoolboy Kane, 14; earnest university student Daisy, 19; reluctant trophy-wife Grace, 34; party-boy Drew, 29; and beautiful old septuagenarian Flo.
A blackly comic exploration of masculine sexuality, the story is told through pillow-talk on five different beds, which represent Phil's attitudes to sexuality at age 14, 21, 30, 46 and 67. The narrative revisits each of these relationships three times before Phil's death in the last scene.

Bang on the Nerve - By Van Badham
In this witty, sexy and occasionally very rude short comedy, Louis is a wannabe rock star singing for his supper as a hose-wearing restaurant minstrel, and his best friend Elle is a feminist filmmaker working in a primary school.
Louis' girlfriend has left him and he wants to mourn alone, but Elle's having a bad day and wants company for the pub.
A simple conflict in plans for the evening escalates into a conflagration of gender-war proportions when the romantic Louis and the cynical Elle battle over the politics, posturing and double standards of heterosexual relationships in the 21st century.
