Male Actors required for "Hamlet" production - Laertes and Horatio
at Emu Heights Productions Inc. Penrith, NSW
“Hamlet” by William Shakespeare.

Emu Heights Productions Inc. will present "Hamlet", an adaptation specially designed for HSC English students and to be performed to the general public in Western Sydney’s iconic Q Theatre.
Emu Heights Productions Inc.: formed in 2010, our objective is to support the education of young people in Western Sydney through professional performance of drama texts studied at school. In our inaugural year of production we are presenting two HSC English texts:
“The Shoe-Horn Sonata” by John Misto in May and “Hamlet” by William Shakespeare in August.
We are looking for energetic, articulate and generous actors to complete a dynamic ensemble.
Actors required: 2 x males 25-30 years old
Roles available in the ensemble:
Laertes/Player
Horatio
In addition, the actors cast may be required to take on some non-speaking characters to fill out the ensemble scenes.
Desirable skills and experience:
• Experience in the interpretation of, and in the vocal / physical expression of Shakespearean/Elizabethan text
• Physical theatre skills, martial arts or stage combat skills are favourable
Auditions will be held in Penrith.
Friday 3rd June 2011, between 10.30am-2.00pm, individual 20 minute timeslots.
Successful applicants will be called back by the end of the work day, and must be available for the initial script read-throughs the following day (Sat 4th June) and two weeks later (Sat 18th June).
Availability required for Rehearsals:
Approx. 180 hours from June through to performance dates (24th-27th August) in the Penrith area. Rehearsal schedule: Monday and Wednesday rehearsals, divided into morning and afternoon sessions; increasing to an additional Saturday rehearsal day for the final two weeks.
Availability required for Performances:
5 performances 24th – 27th Aug 2011

Payment:
A profit share arrangement and signed agreement with the entire production team.
