Actors Required for New Play "The Gallagher Family Portrait"
at Audacious Productions - Melbourne
Audacious Productions is looking to cast four actors for their new play “The Gallagher Family Portrait”, which will be performed in late November.
About the Play:
“The Gallagher Family Portrait” is a dark comedy/drama about the private lives of an eccentric and wealthy family. After the bizarre circumstances of their parents’ death, two brothers meet for the first time in seven years to deal with the aftermath. Secrets are revealed and history is dredged up, but will the truth be dealt with or buried under the rug?
This is a piece of naturalistic, contemporary theatre, presented as an alternative space event. The five show run will take place at a National Heritage site (either Como House or Ripponlea Mansion). Provided we obtain funding from The Australian Council for the Arts, actors will be paid an hourly rate. If we are unfunded, this will be a profit share agreement.
The Cast:
Bertrum Francis Gallagher
62 years old. Husband to Harriet, father to Gregory and Daniel. A wealthy and successful businessman and a stern traditionalist. Has questionable ethics when it comes to business.
Harriet Gallagher-Winter
57 years old. Wife to Bertrum and mother of Gregory and Daniel. Comes from old money and enjoys the finer things in life. Indulges in plastic surgery and plays the stock market. Intolerant to children, even her own, and regrets having her sons.
Daniel Gallagher
30 years old. Elder son of Bertrum and Harriet. Is a successful business and family man in his own right, rejecting the help of his wealthy parents. Leads a wealthy lifestyle and takes pride in his family, business and success in life.
Gregory Gallagher
24 years old. The youngest son of Bertrum and Harriet. The problem child and black sheep. Rejected all privileges of wealth and money, much to his parent’s dismay. Ran away at age 17 to go to Art School but dropped out. No one has seen or heard from him since.
Auditions:
Auditions will be held on mid August (dates and times TBC).
Actors will be asked to perform a short monologue and read from a script extract. Prior acting experience is required.
