PIPPIN at the Sidetrack Theatre - auditions for all roles

CrinkleCut Productions are proud to announce the arrival of PIPPIN to Marrickville’s Sidetrack Theatre from December 7th to 17th, 2011.
Auditions for ALL ROLES will be taking place in Sydney on August 18th, 19th and 20th.
All interested performers should send their CV and headshot, their desired role/s as well as links to or included videos of any relevant skills to brentcdavidson@gmail.com before the 14th of August to be considered for an audition.
The Show
Pippin (music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Roger O. Hirson) follows the fictitious story of the son of King Charlemagne. Recently graduated from university, Pippin tries to find out what to do with his life. A vaudevillian troupe of multi-skilled performers guide him in his search for “something completely fulfilling”.
Pippin will be directed by Benita de Wit, with Musical Director Andy Peterson, Stage Manager Jessica Wallace and Choreography by Simone Salle.
Roles
PIPPIN (tenor)
Pippin is a young man in his early 20s, recently graduated from university. He is idealistic, likeable and dissatisfied with everything. Must be a strong singer and actor.
LEADING PLAYER (tenor)
The charismatic and sexually ambiguous narrator of the show. The Leading player controls the entire troupe. He is in equal turns charming and threatening. Must be a strong singer and dancer.
CATHERINE (mezzo)
Catherine is a beautiful young widow with a son. She has known hard times and does not hesitate to go after what she wants. Singing part, applicants with burlesque or dance experience preferred.
FASTRADA (mezzo)
Pippin's manipulative stepmother. A trophy wife with a love for shopping and big ambitions for her son Lewis. Singing part, applicants with flexibility or circus skills preferred.
CHARLES (baritone)
Charlemagne, king of the Holy Roman Empire. An arrogant and illiterate man who thrives on war and tradition and struggles to express his feelings. Strong comedic role, speak-singing.
LEWIS (chorus)
Pippin's unintelligent but strong half-brother (Fastrada's son). Self-obsessed, muscular and flamboyant, Lewis is certainly compensating for something. Ensemble singing and dancing. Circus, strength or balance experience preferred.
BERTHE (alto)
Pippin's grandmother and Charlemagne’s mother. An elderly woman with a free spirit and a taste for younger men. The demeanour of an aged drag queen. Singing role, to be played by a man. Drag experience preferred.
THEO (chorus)
Catherine’s melancholy young son, always accompanied by his pet duck. Played by a man in his 20s. Ensemble singing, puppeteering experience preferred.
ENSEMBLE FEMALE
To play a variety of roles. Individuals with circus skills and some singing and acting ability preferred.
ENSEMBLE MALE
To play a variety of roles. Individuals with circus skills and some singing and acting ability preferred.
Important Notes
1) Applicants must be available for rehearsals for the entirety of November, up until the close of the show. Any performer who is unable to commit to this schedule must notify the production team in writing before auditioning.
2) Not all applicants will be called in to audition.
3) Auditionees will be provided with a song and a scene from the show to prepare before their audition.
4) Show performers will not be paid a wage, however they will be included in the show’s profit share (calculated once production costs have been deducted).
