Full-time Resort Light Engineer

at Club Med Lindeman Island - Regional QLD

Club Med Lindeman Island, in the beautiful Whitsundays is seeking a Light Engineer to start on the 15th of November.

Your Role
Hours: 6 days per week
Throughout the day: Tasks as assigned as per events/activities/corporate groups/weddings, setting up and packing down of light equipment, maintenance of equipment and other GO duties such as dining with guests for all meals and arrivals/departures.

8.30pm - 9.30pm Deliver the lighting for the nightly show (different show each night of the week)
10.30pm - 11pm Show rehearsal (need to be present initially to learn the shows)
11pm - 2am Nightclub DJ (opened 2-3 nights per week; alternate nights with the Sound Engineer)

•Set lighting for theatre shows and deliver the lighting and cues for all performances
•Set up and dismantle lighting equipment for all remote (non-theatre) events
•Maintain an active written inventory of all lighting equipment and consumables
•Follow Club Med’s standard operating procedures for maintenance of all equipment; partner with Club Med’s maintenance team for upkeep of house electrical systems
•In conjunction with the entertainment team, assist in the set-up and pack away props for all performances
•Cover sound technician responsibilities in their absence (days off)

Your Profile
•Available for a minimum 6 month contract, commitment free
•Understanding of lighting design and wiring techniques used in a live theatre environment
•Confident in designing lighting schemes for theatre performances
•Proven skills in maintaining lighting equipment
•Ability to cover the Sound Engineer/DJ on his/her day off
•Comfortable in climbing tall ladders to change light placements
•An open mind and a passion for people with a sincere smile and engaging personality
•Demonstration that you hold yourself in a professional manner, use language to suit a friendly, upscale, multicultural, family environment and can communicate with clarity
•A high level of maturity in order to deal with living in an isolated island community (must be able to keep work and private life separate)
