ABOUT THE SHOW
La Cage Aux Folles centres on a St.Tropez drag-show nightclub owned by Georges and his long time love, Albin, who headlines as the glamorous Zaza. Together, the couple have raised Georges’ son, the product of a one night fling, but when young Jean-Michel announces his engagement to the daughter of a bigoted, right wing politician and invites her family to meet his ‘normal’ parents, the bonds of family are put to the test as the feather boas fly ! Featuring the ‘notorious and dangerous Cagelles’ and packed with such musical classics as \'I Am What I Am\', \'The Best of Times\' and of course \'La Cage Aux Folles\', LA CAGE is a touching tale of one family\'s struggle to stay together... stay fabulous... and above all else, stay true to themselves!
An award winning musical, with book by Harvey Fierstein and lyrics & music by Jerry Herman, La Cage Aux Folles is based on the 1973 French play of the same name by Jean Poiret. Made into a film in 1978, it was popular enough to inspire two remakes: the stage musical and, nearly two decades later, the Hollywood comedy The Birdcage with Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, and Gene Hackman.
