Media Intern - Rock Eisteddfod Challenge 2012

The Rock Eisteddfod Challenge® Foundation produces two performing arts events – J Rock™ for primary schools and Rock Eisteddfod Challenge® for secondary schools. THE TYPE OF PEOPLE THE COMPANY IS LOOKING FOR:
RECF is looking for several new team members based on two main criteria:
Character – integrity and intent
Outcomes – capabilities and results
RECF places a high level of trust in its team and enjoys working with passionate people with a good sense of humour and strong work ethic.
DETAILS:
Status: 5 months May to September 2011; 1 – 2 days per week
Location: Artarmon
Hours: 9.00am – 5.00pm
Reports to: PR and Communications Coordinator
KEY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To support the Communications Team and our media partners to continue to expand the high profile of Rock Eisteddfod Challenge® and J Rock™ events at local, regional, state and national levels.
To ensure detailed media records are kept regarding the events.
CHALLENGES OF THE POSITION:
To publicise and market multiple events simultaneously.
The necessity of extreme attention to detail, sometimes in seemingly tedious work (note: the right candidate will have opportunities to expand their contribution and scope).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
i. Assisting and supporting the Communications Team with various media requests and communications tasks
ii. Assist in the production of newsletter updates
iii. Maintaining photo library
iv. Media database management
v. Compiling clippings and information from monitors
vi. Assisting the Communications Team with information for media releases
vii. Office administration including: copying, filing, binding, errand running etc

SELECTION CRITERIA:
Essential:
i. Strong time management, organisational and multitasking skills
ii. Ability to prioritise and meet overlapping deadlines
iii. Excellent telephone, written and interpersonal communication skills
iv. Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office 2010
v. Good attention to detail and problem solving skills
vi. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
vii. Media/PR/Communications experience and/or a desire to train for such roles
Desirable:
i. An understanding of an office environment and the things that make it function smoothly
ii. Current Driver’s License and own vehicle
iii. Knowledge of design programs, particularly Adobe CS3 products
iv. Experience with social networking
v. Knowledge of website CMS
vi. HTML/coding experience
PACKAGE:
This is an unpaid position for those who wish to gain experience in the media field. It would be particularly beneficial and suited to someone studying Media or Communications.
