Scenic Painting
at Claire M - Melbourne
I'm Claire M., a set and costume designer and scenic painter who has experience in both German and Australian theatre.
Since completing my studies at the Victorian College of the Arts, I have worked in Australia and Germany as a freelance scenic artist and designer /design assistant for companies such as the Melbourne Theatre Company, the Melbourne International Arts Festival, the Australian Ballet, and the Bavarian State Opera, as well as for many smaller companies. I am fluent in German, and in 2007 worked at the Bavarian State Theatre in the Design Department as well as 2005/2006 in the painting studio at the State Theatre Gärtnerplatz, Munich.
The productions in which I have been involve in are, among others, “An Officer and a Gentleman – the Musical”, Disney's "The Lion King," The Russian Imperial Ice Stars' "Nutcracker", "Sleeping Beauty" and "Swan Lake", Russian National Ballet's "Sleeping Beauty" Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera", the Bavarian State Theatre's "Endgame", "Catweazel", "Marstal Bar", and "Geliebte Luegner , the Bavarian State Opera’s "Palestrina", 12th Opera Festival Gut-Immling’s "Cosi fan Tutte" and "Nabucco", and Theatre Hall 7’s "Im Ausnahmezustand". Through my studies and work I have gained in depth experience with the necessary techniques and skills involve in design and scenic painting (design conception, sketching up, technical drawings and models of stage sets, etc).
In my private practice I have completed large oil commmissions, and have also worked with watercolour minatures, which I exhibited at Imaginarius Ebrius Gallery, Munich in 2009.
