Full-time General Manager

at Milk Crate Theatre - Sydney

Milk Crate Theatre is currently recruiting for an Acting General Manager (10-month maternity leave cover) to join our fantastic team. The Acting General Manager is responsible for the business activity and operations of the company. This includes the management, implementation and monitoring of Milk Crate Theatre’s finances including annual budget forecasts, projections and reports (annual turnover approx. $650,000). The Acting General Manager will manage and implement the funding and fundraising strategy and all related activities. In addition to this, they will be responsible for managing the company’s governance, ensuring all legal requirements are adhered to, including human resources, office management including IT systems, and policies and procedures.

Milk Crate Theatre will only accept applications that address the following selection criteria. Candidates should outline their relevant experience, using specific examples where relevant to illustrate their skills and experience.


Experience in a senior managerial role, including managing staff, governance, projects and partnerships
Experience in funding and fundraising, including managing partnerships, writing applications and reporting
Experience in financial management systems, budget preparation and reporting
Well developed IT/computer literacy skills including MYOB and databases
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Well developed problem-solving, information analysis and evaluation skills
Demonstrated respect and understanding of issues facing socially marginalised communities


Knowledge of the arts and community sectors and government and non-government bodies
