Profit-share Stage Manager

at Emu Heights Theatre Company Penrith, NSW

Role Notice: Stage Manager to join “The Merchant of Venice” for Emu Heights Theatre Company

Connecting artists and audiences with high quality theatre experiences is at the heart of our practice. We are excited to be entering our fifth year of production in 2014 and are mighty proud of the many talented and professional artists who’ve helped bring our first five productions to life. See here for a look back at our previous works

Emu Heights Theatre Company returns for 2014 – the 450th birthday of William Shakespeare – with one of his most satirical and controversial comedies, “The Merchant of Venice”. This biting battle of wits for people’s lives and loves plays out between the fast-paced, risk-taking players of Venice and the old-world sophistication of the noble Belmont family. We’re looking to bring this play right into today’s world. We’ll be challenging perceptions of race, sexuality and gender politics. We want to explore a shared experience of walking in someone else’s shoes. We aim for our production to walk the fine line between social commentary and delightfully witty comedy to engage, inspire and entertain.

We are looking for a theatre-maker who wants to be intimately involved in developing their skills within a collaborative theatre production team. It’s a great opportunity for an emerging professional, or for a mid-career specialist who wishes to develop Performing Arts access and quality in western Sydney.

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated theatre Stage Manager to join our company in Penrith for this production, and are looking to grow the role for future productions.
