Big Splash Productions has a new comedy play coming up called Murder Most Funny!
It is murder mystery about a band, the Giggles, that performs for children. When their manager is found dead in their dressing room after a performance, the band
members are all accused of murder!

This is a paid job and the role is as follows:

JADE In her late twenties, she genuinely enjoys entertaining children and sees it as a very noble undertaking. She is a passionate environmentalist and is unafraid of foisting her views upon others. Protective and supportive of the other band member, the naive and simple Kevin, she is sad at the impending splitting up of the Giggles.

We are looking for someone bright and bubbly and able to sing one
number accompanied by others. This play will be so much fun, it’ll
be to die for!

cast for '20,000 Leagues Under The Sea' semi-promenade show at Spangled Aura Productions

A semi-promenade theatre performance based on the novel by Jules Verne. We will be creating a multi-room interactive environment in a factory somewhere in Brisbane for this production as part of the Anywhere Theatre Festival.

Profit share production.

Spangled Aura Productions have been producing live theatre in the UK since 2004 and relocated to South East Queensland in early 2010. This year we have already produced a successful run of a kids show and a double bill of one act plays at Metro Arts, and we are delighted to be back at the Anywhere Theatre Festival for a second year in a row. www.spangled-aura.com

IMPORTANT DATES
· Auditions: 1st & 2nd March @ Roma Street Parkland Brisbane
· Rehearsals: Weekend (probably Saturday) on the Gold Coast from early March
· Tech / dress rehearsal at the venue: EITHER 6.30pm wed 16th may OR 1pm thurs 17th may (depending on cast availability)
· Performances: 7.30pm on thur 17th, fri 18th and sat 19th May with a 2.30pm matinee on sat 19th.

ROLES CASTING:

Note – all roles are Male, however it would be possible for some of the characters to be played by females, so please people of either gender apply!

· Professor Aronnax – Main character with lots of dialogue. A scientist, very intelligent. Age 25-40
· Conseil – Aronnax’s assistant. The voice of reason.
· Ned Land – A harpooner. Easy to anger.
· Paperboy / Reporter / Captain Faragut / Crewmember – to play multiple roles with some lines, also helping out with moving props and some basic tech cues (eg turning on a light, playing a DVD)

‘Dysfunctional as individuals and even worse combined, group is a supportive and caring environment for anyone with issues. We may not be able to help you, but one thing is for sure. After just one session in the company of our group, you will realise you’re not the only one with issues.’

· Carla: the therapist. Age 50+, a former drug addict who has decided she wants to help others…a bit eccentric.
· Billie: Age 20-30. Agoraphobic.
· Zac: Age 25-40. Depressed and ‘recently’ divorced (4 years ago)
· Annie: Age 20-35. Lots of energy, comes across as slightly crazy.

Cast for 'The Magic Garden' kids promenade theatre show at Spangled Aura Productions

A 45min promenade theatre performance for children, taking place at Roma Street Parkland (as part of Anywhere Theatre Festival) and Southport Broadwater Parklands.

Brisbane dates are unpaid (it’s free to the audience) but there is a payment of $100 available for each performer for the Gold Coast performances.

IMPORTANT DATES:
· Auditions 1st & 2nd March @ Roma Street Parkland
· Rehearsals TBA – there will only be up to 5 rehearsals for this production. (at Roma Street Parkland)
· Gold Coast performances – 8th April (tech run will happen in the morning before shows)
· Brisbane tech run wed 9th may 2-5pm
· Brisbane performances sat 12th & sun 13th may 10am – 3pm

ROLES CASTING:

· Bob – a guy who lives out in the forest, and lives off the land. Age 20-35
· Puppeteer / crew – to voice a couple of glove puppets and help with basic tech cues (operating a flashing light, moving a couple of props etc)

Hiya,

I just arrived from Vancouver and will be here for 6 months trying on my au pair shoes. It’s a solid change from being an actress and carpenter in the great wide north, but I needed it.

What concerns me most is going without a role to sink my teeth into for such a long time. I want to keep toning those muscles and won’t let my weird accent stop me :)

For 11 hours a day I look after two little girls. A humbling experience for a 25 year old single woman who’s always lived life day to day on a hakuna matata mentality. It’s certainly a change.

But from 6 o clock on, and each weekend, I’m back to actress/carpenter from Canada with an itch to improve. I’m good. And I’m dedicated and experienced. Just need a role. And an ensemble to learn from and play off. So many of my greatest experiences have come from just that.

Thought I’d throw this out there. See what happened.

Based in Melbourne, Impossible Theatre is currently developing a series of plays inspired by the work of Spanish playwright Federico Garcia Lorca.

We intend to stage a bilingual play focused on the experimental and surrealist characteristics of texts by Spanish playwright Federico Garcia Lorca, while grappling with the visual challenges presented by them and the physical work on stage. We would also like to include elements related to his biography highlighting certain moments in his life.

We visualise an eclectic play in terms of performing styles, aesthetic approach, language and topics – all these key elements meet a common purpose in Lorca’s artistic proposal and experiences. The inclusion of Federico Garcia Lorca as one of the characters and the cultural-historic elements that inspired his work will help articulate the liaison between plays.

The use of Spanish is another multicultural element to be treated within the scenic language as well as the silent film influences and avant-garde movements in relation to the artistic design.

ABOUT | The Plays Of Federico Garcia Lorca
Spanish poet and dramatist Federico Garcia Lorca was a talented artist and a member of the ‘Generation of 1927’, a group of writers who advocated avant-gardism in literature. In 1929-30 García Lorca lived in the city of New York, on the campus of Columbia University. Unable to speak English he suffered a deep culture shock.

“Buster Keaton’s Stroll”, “The Maiden, the Sailor and the Student” and “Chimera” are three of Lorca’s best-known “impossible plays” which first appeared in his avant-garde magazine ‘Gallo’.
