We are looking for writers with new plays for a production in May 2012 for a new theatre company – MillHouse Productions.
The only requirement is that it must have a minimum of three female roles, and any roles there after (male or female) are fine.
It will be put on at the TAP Gallery in Sydney in the second week of May and have a two week run.

HME is seeking a well organised and motivated technician, who has the right skills and attitude to join the front line of the team.

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, the main focus of this role is the installation of our staging equipment including hoists, moving platforms, rotating platforms, screens, projectors and speakers.

Responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):
 Jobs Planning, including equipment and tool preparation.
 Assessing sites for relevant information.
 Working out safe access methods for both yourself and equipment.
 Set out of equipment, to drawings.
 Fixing machinery building using correct methods, including HILTI systems.
 Truing machines to ensure that smoothly and correctly.
 Setting of limit switches, and other sensors
 Final commissioning of equipment
 Achieving client sign off.

To be successful for this role, you will have a good understanding of rigging and/or a trade certificate in a relevant field, an attention to detail, be organised with a results focused attitude and take a hands on approach to the multiple tasks this busy work environment has.

Darebin Arts & Entertainment Centre is a purpose built theatre, conference and exhibition Centre. There are several positions available for motivated casual Front of House Supervisors.

The Front of House Supervisor is responsible for Front Of House and Kiosk/Bar operations and staff supervision to ensure provision of high quality customer services during performances and/or events. They ensure hirers and patrons comply with all operational procedures and policies, and provide a safe and welcoming environment for patrons and staff at the Centre.

The successful applicants will possess supervisory experience in front of house preferably within an arts & entertainment centre, functions, hospitality, or multipurpose venue; high level customer service delivery and conflict resolution skills; sound cash handling and reporting skills; commitment to following safe working procedures; and be available to work evenings and weekends.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Band 5 of the Darebin City Council Enterprise Bargaining Agreement No. 5.

Holden Street Theatres is an exciting theatre company that hosts a variety of productions and events year round. We seek new approaches to making theatre and at a time when venues are closing and are threatening to close we continue to contribute to the vitality of the Arts Industry in South Australia.

For the Adelaide Fringe, Australia’s largest Arts festival, we extend ourselves to also program and operate the six spaces at Adelaide Town Hall and Thebarton Theatre. We become a hub for brilliant works, showcasing the highest caliber of local, national and international acts. During this time we grow from our core team of four up to over fifty busy bodies and we are unable to achieve our great success without the phenomenal team of volunteers we attract every year to help run the multiple venues.

Position Description

The Public Relations team is probably the most important team we have in the venues in relation to our patrons and the success of the shows.

The team will be responsible for ensuring all venue based staff members are equip with sufficient knowledge and materials (guides and flyers when the street team are not available to promote shows in venue) to represent Holden Street Theatres’ high standard of interaction with the public.

This will include: approaching patrons about certain initiatives, reminding FOH of certain promotions, encouraging patrons to join our mail out list and general interaction with our cliental, promoting our program and ensuring they have an enjoyable experience while visiting us!

This role demands a highly organised, confident and gregarious person that can continue to maintain a high level of customer relations and in-house promotion and motivate others for the whole duration of the fringe.

As an extension of the FOH team, you will be called upon to assist with FOH duties from time to time.

Required Availability: A minimum of three (3-5hr) day shifts per week from 24th February- 18th March plus induction (date to be confirmed).

The Box Office team operates over both Holden Street Theatres and Adelaide Town Hall sites. You will be responsible for counter sales of tickets and merchandise and disseminating tickets for those with venue pick-ups and those on the complimentary tickets list.

About our company

Position Description

The position of Front of House (FOH) is one of great responsibility, but also great fun!

The FOH team is the first (and sometimes only) point of contact that our patrons encounter so it is imperative that you are always immaculately presented in uniform, friendly and as helpful as possible. Great customer service skills are a must! You are there to organise the general public by assisting them finding venues, bars & facilities. You will be responsible for organising queues and facilitating the flow of public to and from venues whilst liaising with venue crew and management.

You will need to be confident, assertive and have a very commanding voice! Performances must start on time and FOH play an important role in this. You are also a traffic warden, ticket checker, mobile information booth and an ambassador for Holden Street Theatres: promoting in-house shows and products available. It is essential that you can work demanding shifts and still remain helpful with a big smile!

You will assist the Artistic Director, Venue Operations Managers, Production and Technical Managers and Assistant FOH Managers as needed.

Required Availability for General FOH: There is no minimum commitment for this position however; we do require that you attend both induction and training for the position (dates to be confirmed).

If you want to take on more responsibility then we are also seeking ‘FOH Leaders’.

FOH Leaders will also have the additional duties: to ensure FOH reports are filled out for each and every show appropriately, all safety regulations are met and show calls are made on time. You will be responsible for checking off door lists and communicating with management in the event of any issues.

Required Availability for FOH Leaders: A minimum of four (3-5hr) shifts per week from 24th February- 18th March plus induction (date to be confirmed).

Calling all female Writers - Monologues wanted at Baggage Productions

Baggage Productions is looking for original monologues written by women for a season in November 2011. Baggage hopes to present over 20+ new monologues performed by different actors. The monologues are planned for three separate nights, and will be directed by a selection of Melbourne directors.

We are excited to highlight the work of female writers, celebrate the monologue as a form and showcase Melbourne performers and directors.
Submission details:

Monologues must be between 1 and 10 mins.
Monologues can be on any topic or theme. Please try to keep elaborate costumes and props to a minimum (unless you can supply them.)
Be as imaginative and creative as you like. We classify a monologue as a single performer on stage as the focus of whatever is happening.
Monologues can be for any gender.
Multiple entries are accepted and welcomed.

Please note:

Participation will be unpaid for all.
All casting will be finalised and decided by Baggage productions.
A call for actors will follow on August 1st.
Monologues for the season will be finalised by Friday September 9th.
