Costumer Designer - Loves Labours Lost
Employer: Melbourne Shakespeare Company
Work Type: Profit-share
Job posted on: Monday 14 January 2019
Melbourne Shakespeare Company are currently seeking a costume designer for our upcoming production of Loves Labours Lost. The production opens on the 2nd March - 17th March (weekends only). This production will run in tandem with our other show Twelfth Night.
Our current Costume Designer has been with us for the last 5 productions however we are performing two productions simultaneously so we are looking to bring on another designer. We are ideally looking for someone who is interested in joining the company for multiple productions across the year.
Our productions are full scale outdoor Shakespearean productions featuring live music and casts of up to 14 people. Although we are an independent company we pride ourselves on professionalism and the high quality of our productions.
The role will involve working closely with our Director to design and produce the costumes for the production and will have the support and assistance of our resident costumier as required. The role involves budget management, design, making and sourcing. All applications are welcome - this role would especially suit a maker interested in expanding their design skills or a designer with skills in making which they wish to put into further practise. (Own car and workspace are preferable but can be supplied for technical rehearsal and performance weeks).
At Melbourne Shakespeare we all LOVE what we do and we are looking for someone with the same passion and love for creating accessible outdoor theatre to join our family. We are proud to have been a springboard for many creatives (cast and crew) who have gone on to work for MTC, Australian Ballet, Australian Opera, The Globe and others.
This is a profit share production with an open book policy.
